August 19, 1949 - May 20, 2012
Jean Landon, beloved wife, mom, grandma, sister, and friend, returned unexpectedly to her loving Heavenly Father on May 20, 2012. Jean was born in Ogden, Utah on August 19, 1949 to Lettie Smith and John Charlton. Her mom later remarried John P. Brandon who adopted Jean as his own. Jean was blessed with two protective brothers, Charles G. and Steven D. Brandon. Jean grew up in Junction City, Kansas and St. Joseph, Missouri. She graduated from Benton High School in 1967 and was voted “Most Likely to Succeed.” Education was important to Jean. She attended Missouri Western College, earned a BA from the University of California, Stanislaus in 1981, and an MBA from BYU in 1991. Family was most important to Jean. She married Thomas Levar Anderson on August 28, 1970 in the Salt Lake City Temple. They spent the majority of their 18 year marriage in Modesto, California. During that time, Jean became the beloved mom of four children: Jennie Lynn, Jared Golden, Stephanie Ann, and Tiffany Nicole Anderson. Jean suffered the unexpected loss of her daughter Tiffany in the summer of 1988 -- a painful experience she would never wish upon anyone. Jean and her three surviving children relocated to Provo, UT in 1988 where she resumed her education and began a professional career in Marketing. Jean met Ross O. Landon on New Year’s Eve, 1990. They became the best of friends and married in the Provo Utah Temple on June 24, 1994. Ross and Jean made their home in Provo, Utah where they have lived for 18 years. They are active members in the LDS Faith and she served in many callings. She was comforted knowing that families can be together forever. Jean was sensitive, loving, caring, quietly flamboyant, thoughtful, smart, curious, analytical, and driven. She was her children’s and grandchildren’s biggest advocate and nothing made her happier than making them happy. She is survived by her husband, three children, eight grandchildren, and two brothers. She was predeceased by her parents and her daughter Tiffany. Funeral services will be held on Friday, May 25, 2012 at 11:00 am at the LDS church located at 4775 N 300 W, Provo, Utah, 84604. A viewing will be held prior to the service from 9:00 am to 10:45 am. Interment will follow at the Provo City Cemetery under the direction of Premier Funeral Services.
