Jeanie Suzette Allen

October 25, 1951 - June 21, 2017

Jeanie Suzette Allen 1951 - 2017 Jeanie Suzette Allen was born October 25, 1951 in Pecos Texas to Cole Younger Waddell And Dorothy Jean Haynie Waddell. Her mother recalled her being an easy self-contained baby who didn’t require much attention. She would carry that sense of containment throughout her life. As a toddler and young child she was a cotton top with a head full of cotton white hair which gradually darkened over time. As a child she enjoyed playing with her siblings and at times was quite a prankster. In the summer she enjoyed going to her grandparent’s ranch and spending time there. Her grandfather would let all the grandchildren take turns driving the jeep on the ranch road, an activity she greatly enjoyed. She did well in school and in high school entered talent shows for singing and dancing. She attended 4 years of early morning seminary, alternating between her home and the home of the only other LDS family in town. Each summer she along with her sisters and other seminary students in the area went on temple trips to the Mesa Arizona Temple. It was always a highlight of the summer. She graduated from Junction Texas High School in May of 1969. A few months later she moved to Mesa Arizona to attend beauty school, completing her course and becoming a hair stylist. She enjoyed working in that field for a few years and then decided to work as a secretary and bookkeeper. After several years she decided to move to San Angelo Texas where she worked and was very active in the church. While there, she was called on a mission to Guatemala. She arrived 3 months after a major earthquake that hit the country in 1976. She experienced aftershock throughout her mission. She spent the first months in Guatemala City and the rest of her time in the mountains on a walking mission. She loved the work and grew to love the Latin people. After her mission she returned to Texas and 6 months later decided to move to Provo, Utah. She later moved to Spanish Fork Utah and there she met her husband at his parent’s laundry mat. She married Murray Michael Allen on June 24th 1980. She lived the rest of her life in Spanish Fork, Utah. Their son Coley was born November 12th 1981 in Payson, Utah. Their daughter Maritza was born October 9th 1987 in Colombia. They adopted her December 1989 and flew to Colombia to pick her up. Suzette’s greatest joy in life was being a mother. She homeschooled her children and very much enjoyed teaching them. Suzette loved to read and had an extensive library. She became involved with politics, working and serving tirelessly in the Constitution Party. Suzette and Mike were in charge of the Constitution Party booth at the Freedom Festival in Provo for many years. She had a great love of freedom and country and for quietly serving others. Suzette served in various church callings, always willing to serve the Lord. She especially enjoyed working with the BYU students when Mike was called to work in the Bishopric and later as a high councilman in a BYU ward and stake. Surrounded by her family, Suzette passed away on Wednesday June 21st 2017 in her home in Spanish Fork Utah after a long and difficult illness. She was preceded in death by her parents, one nephew, a niece and one brother in law. She is survived by her husband Mike Allen, son Coley (Katelyn) (granddaughter Alina Simpson) Allen, daughter Maritza (Ryan) Magoffin, sisters Colleen (Gary) Weaver, Yvette (Terrill) Larsen, Cristy Waddell, as well as numerous nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews Funeral services will be 11:00 am, Wednesday, June 28, 2017 at the LDS Chapel located at 98 South Main Street, Spanish Fork, Utah where a visitation will be prior to services from 9:30 to 10:45 am. Interment at the Salem City Cemetery.
