Julie Collard Thomas

January 18, 1959 - April 6, 2019

Julie (Collard) Thomas, 60, passed away unexpectedly but peacefully on her favorite resting place April 6, 2019. Which is just dumb, because she was doing better than she has ever been. She was excited about what life had to offer her in the future; she was happy and recently stopped smoking (3 months without nicotine) after 40+ years. Her life was headed down a fantastic path. It is messed up that she is gone! She left behind a hell of a lot of stuff to her son and daughters who have no idea what to do with it. Don’t get me wrong…some of our favorite pastimes are going through it and taking bags and bags of stuff back home. But, our houses are not big enough for it all. So, if you’re looking for a, 90’s turn table/radio, a bunch of women’s clothes, toiletries, beads, or even half-done scrapbooks, get in touch with us. You should wait the appropriate amount of time to get in touch. Tomorrow would be fine. This is not an ad for a pawnshop, but an obituary for a great Woman, Mother, Grandmother and Great-Grandmother born on Jan 18, 1959 in Provo, UT, the daughter of Emery and Shirley Collard. She sure has missed them! She leaves behind a very successful and dysfunctional family that she was very proud of. We have no clue how to adult and be a good parent without her. She was so great at helping and guiding her children when they needed it. Who do we call now when life sucks, or when we don’t know how heal an ailment, or want to have a perm, or have something funny to tell her or an accomplishment we are proud of. There is going to be an empty seat at graduations, plays, dances, birthdays, and holidays now. Julie was known for her kindness and love. She was always accepting of others and went out of her way to help. She let numerous family and friends stay with her when they had nowhere else to go. She would (and did) give you her last $20 if you needed it. Her home was your home, where you can come in and find yourself a Pepsi and a snack at any time. Her door was always unlocked and open, even at 3 am (she was probably awake anyway). Her biological family (and family she picked) were her world. Her mom, dad, and brother Scott Collard, are gladly welcoming her with open arms. While the rest of us will deeply miss her. ~Brother Bryant (Kalene) Collard, and sister Christine (Ralph) Lewis; ~Children: Brandon (Amber) Thomas, Ashley (Tom) Halladay, Autumn (Jason) Pledger, and Ali (Benji) Thomas ~Partner: Steve Tomlinson (and ex-partner Kelly Thomas). ~All of her grandchildren will miss making crafts, jewelry and playing with make-up: Tavia (Johnny) DeRoest, Aspen Thomas, Paizley Thomas; Josie, Lynzi and Myalin Hallett; Addie, Isaac, Molly, and Vivienne Pledger, Oliver, Deuce, Sammy, Mia and Mr. Cat. ~Her great grandchildren: Motley and Baby DeRoest. ~Additionally, all of her nieces and nephews who she loved as much as she loved Brandon, Ashley, Autumn, ALI (we all know she was the favorite); all of the neighbors who she has ever lived by, and her favorite in-laws, Max and Glenna Grunig. A “Celebration of Life” will be held when Brandon can escape from the Grey Bar Hotel. Once a date is decided, we will let everyone know via Facebook. While you wait for that party, please call your mom, dad, family member, or friend. Listen to their stories, reminisce about the good times, and enjoy today. Because goodbye comes too soon!
