Kendall Jane Gibson

Kendall Jane Fillmore Gibson, age 74, passed away Friday, April 30, 2017. Kendall was born September 9, 1943 in Beaver, Utah where she grew up with her five sisters, graduated from Beaver High School, then moved on to study music and education at Southern Utah University. From there, she graduated from the University of Utah, where she appropriately met her husband on the steps of the music building. They were married October 8, 1968 in Salt Lake City. Their deep love for music and travel soon landed them in the Azores (Portugal) where they taught and had their first son. Upon returning to the states, they taught in Visalia, CA where their only daughter was born. From there they moved into their home on Dearborn Street in Salt Lake City and welcomed four more sons. In 1999, she and Jim moved their family to Elk Ridge, Utah where they would spend the remainder of their lives. Kendall excelled musically, playing the piano or singing for anyone who asked. She was a dedicated and loving mother who was famous for her gardening skills, caramel recipe, and giving advice on nearly every subject. Kendall is preceded in death by her husband, James Alexander Gibson, her parents Lee R and Chloe Fillmore, and her sisters, Ann (Frank) Axel and Gay (Raymond) Baker, as well as her brother-in-law, Ted (Kaylee) Anderson. She is survived by her children, Tyrone (Adrian), Liz (Tom), Michael (Lisa), Jon (Monica), David (Tanya), and Joshua (Kaela), sisters Betsy (Dave) Vaught, Ruth (Dick) Thomas, Kaylee (Ted) Anderson, brother-in-law Raymond (Gay) Baker, sister-in-law Anne (Kent) Rasmussen, and 22 beautiful grandchildren. Services will be held in the Stratford Ward located at 2600 S 1500 East in Salt Lake City. Viewing - Sunday, May 7, 2017, 6:00 – 8:00 pm and Monday, May 8, 2017 at 9:00 am Funeral - Monday, May 8, 2017, 10:00 am Interment – Salt Lake City Cemetery, immediately following service Special thanks to Premier Funeral Services, Belaire Senior Living, and Shelly Byington, her loving hospice nurse.
