Kent Drew Messenger
March 2, 1952 - October 26, 2010
Kent Drew Messenger of Provo, left this life to return home to his Heavenly Father on Tuesday October 26, 2010 after a valiant fight with pancreatic cancer. He was born March 2, 1952 in Burlington, Colorado to Clifford W. Messenger and M. Claudine Stoner. He spent his youth in Colorado Springs, CO. He loved to ski and hike those beautiful Colorado Rockies. He served in the Brazil South Mission from 1971 to 1973, and then returned to graduate from BYU in Business Finance. He married Jane Ann Wellington April 10, 1975 in the Salt Lake Temple. In 1989, Kent returned to BYU to earn a degree in civil engineering with a structural emphasis, a career that he loved. Kent has always been active in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. His testimony is strong and his love for the Savior is deep. He is survived by his loving wife, Jane Ann, and five sons: Robert (Amy) Corvallis, OR; Judd (Heidi) Spanish Fork, UT; Bryan (Jillian) Pleasant Grove, UT; Mark (Stacey) Riverton, UT; and David Provo, UT. His favorite title was Grandad and he loves his grandchildren Afton, Andrew, Bennion, Emma, Lucy, James, and Alexis very much. He is also survived by his mother, Claudine Messenger, and his brothers and sisters: Neil (Debbie) Messenger, Lucy Messenger, Sally (Bryan) Girts, and Ira (Karen) Messenger. Funeral services held Saturday October 30, 2010 at 11:00 am at the Edgemont 19th Ward Chapel, 300 West 4800 North, Provo. A viewing will be held Friday at the Edgemont 19th Ward Chapel between 6:00 and 8:00 pm and Saturday from 9:45 to 10:45 am prior to the service. Interment will be in the East Lawn Memorial Hills.
