Kerry Gardner Bullard
August 21, 1951 - March 17, 2022
Kerry passed on the evening of March 17th in his home surrounded by his loving wife, children, and grandchildren. In a sacred family moment, we were torn between losing a man we loved so much and seeing him free from the pain that had accompanied him in his final year of life. We would like to thank the doctors, nurses, and friends who helped to provide comfort and support during his final days. We will never forget this wonderful man who had a hard exterior, but was so warm and soft to those who knew and loved him best. Kerry was born on August 21st, 1951 in Rock Springs, Wyoming where his father worked mining coal. His family soon relocated to Roy, Utah where Kerry grew up. Kerry loved sports and excelled at basketball and football at Roy High School. He would go on to play sports at Snow College, serve a church mission in Leeds, England and later finish his studies at Weber State College. He met and married Joyce Elizabeth Johnson in the Ogden Temple in June of 1977. They went on to raise a family of six children and twenty-eight grandchildren. Kerry was the ultimate provider, never shying away from hard work and sacrifice to provide the necessities of life for his family. He was reliable and on-time in his professional life, rarely missing a day in his 32-year career as a History and Geography teacher at Syracuse Junior High School. He would later continue this relentless work ethic in searching out his own ancestors and serving in the Ogden Temple. He didn’t owe a dime to any person and would sometimes work multiple jobs to secure the extra funds needed to send a child on a mission or pay for a wedding. His interactions with family ranged from gently bouncing the baby on his lap, playing tricks on the younger grandkids, teasing the older kids, and trading quick-witted remarks and jabs with the adults. He was always the one to say the truth in any situation, whether people were ready to hear it or not. His needs were simple; and he always preferred those objects, places, and people that were unique or special to him. He showed his love with consistent action over long periods of time, rarely with words. Kerry is preceded in death by his father – Claude Leslie Bullard and mother – Genevieve Gardner Bullard. He is survived by his wife—Joyce; children—Jeff (Alicia), Danny (Colleen), Merilyn McAllister (Brett), Robert (Ashley), Emily Johnson (Alex), and William (Julia); and 28 grandchildren. A viewing will be held on Friday, March 25th from 6:00 – 8:00 PM and Saturday, March 26th from 9:30 – 10:30 AM. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, March 26th at 11:00 AM. Viewing and funeral services will take place at the Clearfield South Stake Center (2186 Katie’s Way). Internment at Lindquist’s Cemetery in Layton, UT. https://youtube.com/channel/UCSS-4kdvtwgiqzEX_Q1yWrA
