June 11, 1928 - September 23, 2014
Lila Folker Petersen, beloved daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, aunt and friend passed away on Tuesday, September 23, 2014 at the age of 86. She was born on June 11, 1928 in Peoa, Utah to Alfred Dewitt and Gladys Midgley Folker. She married Stanley Ernest Petersen on May 18, 1949 in the Salt Lake Temple. She grew up in East Millcreek and graduated from Granite High School. Mom and Dad have lived in their Kearns home for 59 years. Mom loved her Heavenly Father and Savior Jesus Christ and served in many callings including as president of both the Relief Society and Primary. She especially loved the little children and had great concern for the welfare of others. She was an example of strength through the many trials and challenges that came into her life. Mom and Dad were foster parents for 18 years, having had over 50 children in their care. Preferring to be a stay-at-home mom, she did daycare for many years. Her hobbies included crocheting, quilting, crafts, and making chocolates. She truly enjoyed sharing her creations with family and friends. Mom struggled with ailing health for many years and we are grateful to all who have cared for and assisted her including Harmony Home Health and Hospice followed by iCare Home Health and Hospice. We appreciate so much the compassionate hearts of her faithful friends. Our mom was a true example of enduring to the end and was ready to move on in her journey. Survived by her husband of 65 years, children: Ellen Petersen, Donna (David) Clark, and Roy Petersen, grandchildren: Benjamin (Angie), Maren, and Michaela Clark, and 2 great- grandchildren (Ethan and Addison Clark). She is reunited with her daughters Karen Ann (infant), Debra Colleen Petersen, her parents, all of her siblings (Jack, Ralph, Ruth Nance, Eloise Whiting and their spouses whom she loved dearly) and many loved ones and friends who went before. She had a very special place in her heart for her many nieces and nephews. A viewing will be held Saturday, September 27th from 9:30 – 10:45 a.m. at the Kearns 21st Ward meetinghouse located at 4270 West 5740 South. Funeral services will follow at 11:00 a.m. in the same building. Interment Redwood Memorial Estates.
