Linda Ann Black

April 8, 1947 - January 29, 2012

Linda Ann Black 1947 - 2012 Our beautiful sister passed away Sunday January 29, 2012, after a long battle with cancer. Funeral services will be held February 4th, 11:00 am at the Sandy, Granite View Stake Center, 9880 South 3100 East. Viewings will be at the same location Friday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 PM and 10:00 to 10:45 AM the following morning. Internment will be at Lake Hills Memorial Cemetery, (10055 South State Street, Sandy). Linda was born April 8th, 1947 to Violet Ruth Newton and Angus Clinton Black at Salt Lake City, Utah. She is survived by her brother Clinton Black, (June) of West Valley, Utah, her sister, Annette Honda, (Bob) of North Mankato, Minnesota, and her sister, Diane Winegar, (Mitch) of Herriman Utah. She was preceded in death by both her mother and her father. Linda spent a wonderful childhood with her family growing up in Midvale, Utah. Later the family moved to a larger home in Sandy where many fond memories remain. After graduating from Jordan High School, she gained a BA in social sciences, and liberal arts. This led to a career with Utah State Social Services where she worked with the less fortunate for many years. She continued her education, receiving a BA in Education from Idaho State University at Pocatello. She was a semester away from completing her Masters degree in counseling when her health began to fail and the battle with Cancer began. She fought for four years surviving major surgery and bouts with chemo-therapy; she fought the disease to the end. Linda was blessed with a beautiful operatic voice which she developed throughout her life. She loved singing with many choirs and performed with the Utah Opera Company. Linda enjoyed staying physically active. She loved to swim, walk, enjoyed aerobic classes and loved to snow and water ski. Linda loved to shop and had a talent for helping others make the best of their own selves. Linda will always be remembered as the fun-loving sister and had a passion for life. Good bye for now Linda, we love you. The family would like to thank Dr. Prystus, Dr. Morgan and their staff, for all of their loving help and care for nearly four years. WE THANK YOU!!!
