Lolly Nickel Laurel “Lolly” Nickel died in her home on Thursday, November 21st, 2019 in Ogden, Utah due to complications following ovarian cancer. She was 65. Lolly was born on June 4th, 1954 in Detroit, Michigan to her parents, Eleanor and Walter Cole. She graduated from Wheaton College with a degree in Physical Education in 1976. Lolly moved to Wheaton, Illinois where she raised her daughter Meg and son Gordon. She also taught aerobics classes and ballroom dance at the Wheaton Sports Center. Lolly was an avid skier and hiker. After she moved to Utah in 2010, Lolly was a ski instructor at Snowbasin ski resort in the winter and would explore the Wasatch front on foot in the summer. Lolly loved to travel, spending time in Edinburgh, Scotland; Melbourne, Australia; Banff, Canada; among many other destinations. Lolly was very proud of her Scottish heritage, in particular meat pies. She was happiest when sharing her favorite actives with a wide circle of friends. Over the past 10 years, she found immense joy in being a grandmother to her two grandkids, who affectionately called her Lala. Lolly is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Meg and Mike Fogg, and their two children Reed and Nora Fogg; her son, Gordon; her sister and brother-in-law Peggy and Howard Folmar; and her brother and sister-in-law Jim and Sandy Cole. She is preceded in death by her brother John Cole; and her parents Eleanor and Walter Cole. A memorial will take place on November 26 at 3:00 p.m. at Ogden Valley Community Church, in Huntsville Utah. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Lolly's life.
