Lorin Morray Yates

January 3, 1931 - October 6, 2021

Our dear husband, father brother, uncle, and Papa: Lorin Morray Yates died Wednesday, October 6, 2021, at home surrounded by his loved ones. Morray was born January 3, 1931, to Elmer and Effie Yates. Morray grew up on Hudson Avenue, where he learned from his father how to garden and the value of hard work. Morray served in the US Army during the Korean Conflict. Morray married Norma Davis in the Salt Lake Temple on May 17, 1951. They lovingly celebrated 55 years of marriage until her death on September 13, 2006. Morray and Norma had four children: Debra, Danny, Ronald, and James. Morray was an active member of the LDS Church serving in Sunday School, Young Men’s organization, Elders Quorum, High Priest Group, Bishoprics, Stake High Councils, and a faithful home teacher. Moray worked hard his entire life to provide for his family and the satisfaction of a job well done. He worked for KDYL as a cameraman, Trailmobile, Williamsen, Stockbroker at Wilson Davis and Co, but his favorite occupation was land development. Morray loved the outdoors, his hunting trips with his dad, uncles, his children, and cousins. He loved Yellowstone, and beach trips/vacations. Morray was lucky in his later life to find Carol Smith, his dear wife, companion, and partner. Morray and Carol married on May 26, 2007 and have shared a loving 14 years together until his death. Morray is survived by his wife Carol, daughter Debra (Kevin) Waldram, sons Ronald (Natalie) Yates, James (Doreen) Yates, Janell (Mike) McFall, Jesse Braegger, his sister Karma (Bud) Ashley, 15 grandchildren, and 30 great-grandchildren. Morray is preceded in death by his parents, one brother, one sister, his wife Norma & son Danny. Funeral services will be Wednesday October 13, 2021, at 11:00am at the Grandview First Ward, 2930 South 2000 East, Salt Lake City, UT. Friends and family are invited to visit on Tuesday October 12, 2021, at the church from 6:00pm to 8:00pm and Wednesday October 13, 2021 from 9:30am to 10:45am.
