Mabel Webster Handley

Our beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, Mabel Webster Handley, age 95, early Sunday morning on 7 May 2017, passed away peacefully in her sleep. Mabel was born on the 1 April 1922 in Midvale, Utah. The eighth of ten children of Lewis Phillip and Mary Jane Webster. From an early age she tread her on path in seeking out life adventures. She loved spending time with her siblings, they were some of her best friends. Mabel married her sweetheart Vern A. Handley at the age of 17 in Butlerville on 15 August 1939. They later were sealed together in the Salt Lake Temple on 29 June 1944. Mabel resided in Salt Lake County and Davis County, with a short time in Moab Utah, where she raised 5 children who were the love of her life on most days. Besides being a mother, she worked at Litton’s for approx. 10 years. At times she did food demos at various stores in Davis County, she also provided day care of a neighbors young child and her grand-daughter. Mabel was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, she loved the Lord and cherished her membership in the church. She could strike up a conversation with anyone she meet neighbors and strangers alike. She had a deep kinship with several of her neighbors in the Oak Ridge Ward, Mabel enjoyed a lifetime association with many wonderful loving people. Her children and grandchildren were the light of her life. Mabel loved the holidays, birthdays, and family gatherings. Her grandchildren loved having sleepovers with grandma & grandpa, eating her bacon, eggs, and hash browns. Mabel loved showing and cooking her neighbors and family some of her recipes, such as our favorites pies, apple dumplings, baked beans, and deer hunting cookies. She loved making quilts and sharing them with others. While living in Kaysville, she loved playing and sharing with others, her tunes on the player piano. She is proceeded in death by her husband, daughter Evalyn Kathleen Brown, five brothers, and 4 sisters. Survived by G. Brent (Jane) Handley, Floyd D. (Helen) Handley, Bradden V. (Kristine) Handley, Cynthia L. (Dave) Shehan, son-in-law Kent Brown, 15 grandchildren, and 21 great-grandchildren. We express our appreciation to the special care givers at Rocky Mountain Care Hunter Hollow and Rocky Mountain Hospice for their compassionate care. Open house will be held at the Oak Ridge Ward, located at 2250 East 2200 North, Layton, UT on 15 May 2017 at 11:00 am to 12:30 pm. Graveside service will follow at the Kaysville Cemetery, 500 Crestwood Road, Kaysville, Utah. The world has lost a sweet incredible woman who will forever be in our hearts as we remember one who would do anything for others.
