Marcia Christensen Ekstrom

August 30, 1939 - June 28, 2019

Marcia Christensen Ekstrom, our amazing wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, and sister passed away on June 28, 2019, after a faith-filled battle with cancer. Marcia was born in Moroni, Utah, August 30, 1939, to Raymond David Christensen and Ila Lucile Peterson. She grew up in Moroni, graduated from Moroni High School. She graduated with a degree in Education from Utah State University. Throughout her life, she made everyone she came in contact with feel like they were important to her because to her they were. Marcia married her sweetheart, Kent D. Ekstrom, on December 5, 1964, in the Manti Temple. Marcia’s greatest joy and blessing were mothering her 6 children: Jody, Ky, Tipton, Courtney, Brock, and Staci. Marcia was a fulltime mother who provided her children with every opportunity to develop their skills and talents. She was a clever seamstress who made her daughter’s dresses, her son’s shirts, and in the early years, suits for her husband. As her children grew, left home, and married, she organized breakfasts, dinners, and activities to keep her family close. In addition to sewing, she painted, did volunteer work, sang in a women’s choir, and stayed close to her precious sisters. Marcia had 14 grandchildren whom she adored, loved being with, and spoiled at every occasion. Marcia touched life after life as a devoted friend, neighbor, and member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She was committed to serving and uplifting others, and she routinely put others first. If it was praiseworthy, or of good report, she welcomed it and surrounded herself with goodness. She had a heart full of charity, sought out opportunities to serve others, and was completely devoted to the Gospel of Jesus Christ. As a family, we weep, because we will miss her so, and have faith and knowledge that families can be together forever. Marcia’s funeral will be held on Tuesday, July 2, at 11:00 a.m. at the Chapel, located at 7115 S 3200 W, in West Jordan, Utah 84084. Family and friends can honor our beloved Marcia from 9:30 to 10:45 at 7115 S 3200 W, West Jordan, Utah. Marcia has selected to be buried, near her family, in the Moroni Cemetery.
