Margaret Arlene Carlton

July 17, 1938 - November 30, 2020

Margaret Arlene Carlton, 82, of West Jordan, Utah passed away at her home on November 30, 2020 after a lengthy battle with dementia. Arlene was born on July 17, 1938 in Wellsville, NY to Chester and Daisy Foster. She attended most of her schooling in Rawlins, WY, graduating from Rawlins High School. She married Donald Carlton on October 6, 1956 in Casper, WY. From this union four children were born; Starla, Clint, Wes and Kelley. Arlene served as Justice of the Peace, Sweetwater County in Wamsutter, WY for over 20 years. She also served as Wamsutter Municipal Judge. She was a member of the Wyoming & National Judges Association holding numerous offices over the years. Arlene and Don operated Carlton’s Texaco in Wamsutter for over 20 years. The Carltons moved to West Jordan, Utah in 1990 where Arlene was employed by UPS until her retirement. Don & Arlene shared their love of square dancing for over 62 years with many acquaintances, many who became life-long friends. Arlene is survived by her husband, Don, her sister, Eldine Argyle, both of West Jordan, Utah, her daughter, Starla (Rod) Cairns, sons, Clint (Michele) Carlton, & Wes Carlton, four granddaughters and 9 great-grandchildren. She was proceeded in death by her parents, her brother, Ron Foster, her daughter, Kelley Carlton Chance, and her grandson, Casey Carlton. Due to Covid, a memorial will be held at a later date. Memorial contributions may be sent to Town of Wamsutter, Carlton City Park Memorial, P.O. Box 6, Wamsutter, WY 82336.
