August 7, 1956 - February 22, 2019
Michael Kenneth Ashcroft, age 62, died unexpectantly at home on February 22, 2019. Mike was born on August 7, 1956 in Blackfoot Idaho to Clyde Kenneth and Naomi Mae Kniffin Ashcroft. He shared a birthday with other members of the Ashcroft clan, several family units each have a member born on August 7th. Growing up in Pocatello Idaho, he graduated from “Poky” High School class of 1975. He attended Idaho State University and graduated with a degree in government in 1979. He earned his JD from University of Idaho in December 1981. He married Bonnie Brower, March 10th, 1978 in the Idaho Falls Temple. They were blessed with four children, Nicole, Daniel Kenneth, Steven Brant and Deandra. After receiving his law degree, he joined the Exxon Corporation in January 1981 headquartered in Houston Texas. He also worked for the State of Texas, Conoco Petroleum and The City of Houston. Mike served in several church callings including Primary Teacher, Nursery Leader and Scout Master. At a young age, he was made a 70 and became a Stake Missionary. Later he served as a member of the High Council. Not having been active in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints growing up, Mike enjoyed his time as a scout leader, earning badges and his order of the arrow right along with his two boys. He was an avid reader and had an enormous vocabulary. He loved to challenge anyone to a game of scrabble. He was interested in history and automobiles. He was able to look at the body style of a car and tell you the year it was manufactured and what year the next modification was made. He was a loving father. He enjoyed wrestling and playing with the kids, attending orchestra, band concerts, basketball games and family activities. Mike leaves behind his wife Bonnie, daughters Nicole (Keeney) and Deandra along with his son Daniel; grandchildren, Cora Madeline Ashcroft, Adolyn Alice and Miles Edwin Keeney. His sister Kim Hulet and brother Dick Miller. We will miss Mike but are glad he has been reunited with his parents, aunts, uncles, siblings, mother-in-law and son, Steven. Graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, March 22, 2019 at the Pleasant Grove City Cemetery, located at 500 North Main Street, Pleasant Grove, UT 84062.
