Michael Mawson
August 11, 1955 - August 15, 2014
Mike (Sparky / Sparkman), husband, father, grandfather, friend and cook extrodinar, died Friday, August 15, 2014 after a long brave battle over diabetes, kidney failure and heart problems. Mike loved his friends, family, his extended Home Depot family, cooking, football (Go Utes), the Cooking Channel, Law & Order, & Seinfeld. Mike is survived by his wife of 30 years, Chris, his daughters; Cambry (partner Scott), Malory (fiancé Zack), Carisa (husband Rob), (Hillary), & his grandchildren, Evey, Brook, Bryndi, & Ayden, & Chris' parents, Clay & Karen that accepted Mike as one of their own, & several in-laws whom he loved as his own blood. In addition to his mother, Kathy; brothers, Rick, Ron & Jeff; & sisters, Linda & Cindy, & countless nieces & nephews. He's proceeded in death by his grandson, Kaleb & other family members & friends. We would like to express our thanks to Jeff Anderson & Ren Peek for being the best friends anyone could ask for; his brothers in spirit. We'd also like to express our thanks to our Ward & our wonderful neighbors for the countless times they've been there for us over the past year. We also like to thank the many doctors & medical staff that worked so hard to help Mike during these past few years. We are forever in your debt. Those wishing to donate to help with Mike's final expenses can do so at any University Federal Credit Union. There's a special savings account available, just give them Cambry Mawson's name. The Credit Union wouldn't allow us to open a memorial account in his name because of the time envolved. You can also find a link on the Mike Mawson Memorial page on Facebook, should you wish to make an online donation. Those wishing to celebrate Mike's life are invited to join his family on Friday, August 22, 2014 @ 6 PM @ the LDS Church House at 9245 S. Quail Run Drive (2360 East), Sandy, Utah 84093. Services will be held in the Cultural Hall. Please wear what you'd like, your favorite University of Utah, or Raiders apparel in his honor.
