Olive "Margaret" Libutti

June 16, 1925 - January 11, 2014

Olive Margaret Davis Libutti was born on June 16, 1925, in Wendell, Idaho to Shem and Josephine Mary Gatzemeyer Davis. She passed away on Saturday, January 11, 2014 in Orem, Utah. Margaret was the oldest of three, including her sister Deloris and brother Ed. As a child, she was very ill with rheumatic fever, which gave her extra compassion for those who suffered illness and hardships. After graduating from Challis High School in 1944, she worked as a secretary and switchboard operator. She met Carmen Libutti, from Rochester, New York, at a dance while he was stationed at Mountain Home Air Base at the end of World War II. They were married on January 3, 1946 in McCall, Idaho and had two children, Teresa Lee and Gene. Her husband’s work with the VA Hospitals took them to Illinois, South Dakota, Maryland, Oklahoma and Ohio. In 1959, Carmen joined the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Months later he was called as a branch president, which started a lifetime of church service with Margaret at his side. Their family was sealed in the Idaho Falls Temple in 1961. Margaret loved being a wife and homemaker, raising her children, and making dear friends everywhere she went. She faithfully served in every organization of the LDS church. Carmen’s retirement took them back to Meridian, Idaho, where they served in the Boise Temple from its opening, in many positions, including the Temple Presidency. They served two LDS missions, in Harrrisburg, Pennsylvania (1981-1983) and Bermuda (1991-1992). She loved travel, walks appreciating the beauties of nature, music, and time with her family. Her example of devoted service to her husband after his strokes 18 years ago and her enduring to the end is an inspiration. She is preceded by her daughter Teresa Lee Lege and survived by her husband Carmen, son Gene (Sheri), son-in-law Rick Lege, grandchildren Stephen (Sarah) Lege, Ryan (Sayuri) Lege, Joanna (Chris) Stinson, Matthew (Julianne) Libutti, Kristi (Drew) Burton, John and Scott (Rachel) Libutti and her seven great-grandchildren, Madeline and Sydnee Lege, Kiina and Kokomi Lege, Jackson, Lucy and Tessa Libutti. Her family expresses appreciation to those at Orem Rehabilitation and Nursing who gave such kind service to her these last four months. Funeral Services will be held Saturday, January 18, 2014 at 11:00 am in the LDS Chapel2225 West 620 North, Provo, Utah. Family and friends may call from 9:30 am - 10:45 am prior to the service.
