Patricia Lynn Huber Otis
February 28, 1951 - February 17, 2022
Loving Wife, Mother, Sister, Grandmother, and Friend— Patricia Lynn Huber Otis slipped through the veil on February 17, 2022 about 6:45pm. She was escorted into the next world by several family members as well as many for whom she has done family history work for, and some whom she gave service too. “Trish” as she was known, was born on February 28, 1951 to Ralph and Betty Huber in Washington, DC. She enjoyed her childhood—growing up in College Park, Maryland—having many wonderful memories, fun, and adventures. In school she was a bright-eyed, beautiful, active, and an intelligent student; who was very popular and elected President of her class, and participated in many Church and outside clubs and activities. While attending BYU (in Provo, UT) her Dad confronted, wrestled, and was shot by a burglar who had broken into their home. That burglar was never caught. Ralph survived being shot and forgave the intruder, but was paralyzed from the chest down in the struggle, changing Trish and the family’s lives forever. Trish later met, married, and was sealed to Clifford Timothy Otis of Needles, California. Together they raised 3 wonderful and outstanding children in Orem UT, where they ran a floral and gift business in downtown Provo for more than 20 years. Trish has 12 nearly perfect grandchildren which have brought much sunshine, laughter and joy to her. Trish was very creative and busy, having many talents: in crafts, tole painting, decorating, furniture reconditioning, decoupage, genealogy, and many other various hobbies. She could make ugly or normal things beautiful and stunning. She loved antiques, finding joy and excitement in garage sales, prowling through the D.I., or pillaging for treasure at some other discount or secondhand stores. Trish also had a knack for reaching out and touching the lives of lost souls and others who seemed to have fallen through the cracks in life. Many who were not blood related called her mom or friend. She made everyone feel comfortable and welcomed in her home or presence. She also had a soft touch for any stray animal or pet. In their marriage they have always had a dog and a bird as part of the family. Trish was a great organizer. A family joke was that the reason she did not come to earth earlier as a pioneer, was because she would have packed a covered wagon so full that even the strongest oxen couldn’t pull it. She served in many church positions among which were Temple Worker, YW Camp Director, Activity Director, Relief Society Presidencies, and Bishop’s Wife. She was a hard worker, true friend, diplomat and helper. The world is a much better place and brighter because of Trish’s legacy. Trish is survived by her husband Cliff of about 51 years; son, Michael (Amanda) Otis of West Jordan, UT; daughter, Crystal (Rob) Sautter, of Pleasant Grove, UT; son, Matthew (Jenifer) Otis of Orem, UT; and 12 grandchildren: Elle (Garett) Schmidt, Traci (Kadin) Bullock, Andrew Sautter, Emma Otis, Sophia Otis, Natalie Otis, Ian Otis, Isaac Sautter, Emily Otis, Kate Sautter, Chloe Otis, and Ben Sautter. She is also survived by her brother, Lowell Huber of Logan, UT; sister, Becky Snowball of SLC, UT; and sister, Lisa Bowerman of Alpine, UT. Trish is preceded in death by her parents Ralph & Mary Elizabeth Huber; and sisters Sharon Carter of Montross, VA; Sally Sessions of Mesa, AZ; and Mary Loosle of Livonia, Michigan. Special thanks are extended to the many doctors and nurses especially Dr. Bott and Dr. Esplin who helped her through the 12-year journey with Cancer, … and the special hospice people including Nancy Trapnell, Barbara Ricks and several other personal friends. Services will be held at the LDS Church on 546 N. 500 W. Orem, Utah. The service will be broadcast over the internet at: https://byu.zoom.us/j/8014228346 Viewing will be starting at 10:30am on Friday February 25, with the service starting at Noon.
