Patricia Ann Packard

November 13, 1938 - January 25, 2022

Patricia “Pat” Ann Packard passed away peacefully in the early morning of January 25, 2022 after 83 wonderful years with family and friends. She was born on November 13, 1938 in Salt Lake City, Utah to Alfred and Elaine Sorensen as part of a loving family including 3 other siblings Neal Sorensen (Carol), Randy Sorensen, and Sharon Frisbee (Alfred). Her family grew up in the Salt Lake Valley where Pat attended and graduated from East High School. Pat was so proud of her siblings, especially Neal who was in the Air Force. He provided many memories of travel for her that she always cherished. Shortly after Graduation Pat met Joseph "Joe" Packard while working at Sears. They were married in the summer of 1958. While they established a home in Salt Lake City, they were blessed with 5 wonderful children. Pat loved being a homemaker and neighborhood babysitter to anyone who asked for a helping hand. She had a wonderful friend group who she met with regularly to play a game or two of Canasta. “I only won once, and it was by accident!” Pat’s truest “Love of Her Life” were the children that surrounded her. She was the neighborhood “cookie lady”, where kids knew she would have a warm cookie or popsicle handy. She was a loving grandmother to 8 grandchildren, and 7 great grandchildren. The way that she would light up when children were around was truly something to witness. She was known for her monkey and banana bread, savory Sunday dinners, and her Grandma’s chocolate cake and brownies. She always looked forward to her morning coffee while reading the daily newspaper and obituaries. In the last years of her life, Pat had some health challenges but she always remained positive and appreciative to the doctors and nurses that helped her. Special thanks to Canyon Health and Hospice for the care that was shown. Pat is survived by her 5 children- Trent Packard (Lori); Brett Packard; Casey Packard; Lisa Duran (Barry); Raegan Packard (Karla). Her 8 grandchildren - Megan Carroll (Jake); Taylor Packard; Lacie Duran; Landon Packard (Erica); Shelbi Metivier (Josh); Austin Duran (Hannah); Nathan Packard; Madison Packard. And her 7 great grandchildren - Hugh Duran, Reese Carroll, Nora Metivier, Archie Duran, Aiden Carroll, and two babies on the way - Easton Metivier & Baby Girl (Landon & Erika). She is preceded in death by her parents, brother Randy, her life-long sweetheart Joe, and daughter-in-law Kathleen. Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday February 2, 2022 at 11:00 AM at the Cottonwood 4th Ward located at 5565 S Neighbor Lane Holladay, UT 84121.
