Rebekah Ray Shadduck

May 9, 1970 - July 2, 2021

Rebekah Ray Shadduck, 51 years old, passed away July 2, 2021 after a long battle with kidney disease. Becky had been on dialysis for nearly 36 years and had 67 surgeries. After all of this, she was always upbeat and positive and often encouraging other dialysis patients and friends who were suffering in their own way. Becky was born May 9, 1970, in Murray Utah. After some period of time, she was placed in foster care and was subsequently adopted by Blaine and Beverly Peek. She met Duane Lee Shadduck, the love of her life and they were married on September 19, 1992. They had one son, Wayne Ray Shadduck (he preceded her in death). Becky attended Granger High School where near the middle of her sophomore year, her life changed forever and her formal education was cut short when she was diagnosed with end stage renal disease. She, however, along with her mother and sister completed a course in clownology offered by the University of Utah, the three of them brough joy to many people through this activity for several years. She was forever a Utah Ute, at heart, and the U of U was among her favorites loves. Becky loved animals especially Bindy, her service dog and Oobie her cat. As it became necessary to retire Bindy, Joy (her new service dog) entered her life. Becky was a friend to everyone, always reaching out to strangers and welcome them into her circle of friendship. It didn’t matter who you were, if you knew her, you were her friend. Becky was a lifelong member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Becky is survived by her husband, Duane; her parents, Blaine and Beverly Peek, her brother Benjamin and sister-in-law Danielle; her brother, Bradford; her sister Beth and brother-in-law Hene Mani and her brother Brian. Many loving nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins. Additionally, after several years of searching, Becky was excited to become reacquainted with her biological siblings, sisters Brenda, Sabrina and Wanda, brothers Ken and Waylon, her aunt Nancy and Uncle Jay. The family extends its thanks to the University of Utah Dialysis Unit for their years of dedication to helping Becky and to the ICU staff at the Intermountain Medical Center. Lastly, a very special thanks to her aunt Sandra Ercanbrack for the countless hours of help she has provided to both Becky and Duane. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am, Saturday, July 17, 2021 at the LDS Chapel at 2900 West Winchester Way, West Valley City, Utah with a viewing to begin at 9:45 am.
