Robert Elijah Bigelow

March 3, 1942 - November 23, 2017

Robert Elijah Bigelow March 3, 1942- November 23, 2017 Our beloved husband, father, and grandfather passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Thanksgiving Day. He was born in Price, Utah to Clifford E. Bigelow and Melvina Lance Bigelow. Robert grew up in Green River, Utah on a farm and learned to value hard work and labor. He was known for being a “do it yourself” type of person. He loved to work with his hands whether it was on the house, his car, or his motor home that he built himself. He attended Green River High School where he excelled in track and basketball. He was a very gregarious and popular person who was voted captain of the basketball team and prom king. He was also valedictorian of his high school graduating class. He served an honorable LDS mission to the Southern Australia Mission. He was extremely devoted to the Gospel of Jesus Christ. He was constantly teaching his family about the gospel, our purpose here on earth, and the plan of salvation. He was highly intelligent, loved learning, and was a continual student at the University of Utah. He was a successful entrepreneur who owned his own carpet cleaning business “Mr. Carpet Clean”, dry cleaning business, and rental properties. Robert loved to lift weights and was an avid runner who enjoyed running marathons. Also, in his spare time he enjoyed the outdoors, whether it was hiking, going on picnics, or heading to the park for a family outing. He was an aspiring architect and loved to draw up house plans. To the enjoyment of his family he collected a library of movies. Family functions were the highlight of his life and he tried to get everyone together as much as possible. He loved to laugh and laughed till the end. He always said that “I am a Bigelow and Bigelow’s love to laugh!” He is survived by his wife, Mitzi; children Kevin (Brenda), Dan (Dee Dee), Todd, Shawna (Dave), Troy, Jason, Krissy (Fernanado), Kelsie (Jaden), and Kylie; three stepchildren Alandee, Bart, and Cameron; 23 grandchildren; 1 great grandchild; his two brothers Ron (Charlene) and John (Kathy); and his sister Judy (Coy). Preceded in death by his parents Clifflord and Melvina; one brother, Gene; and one sister, Jeanie. Funeral services will be Monday, November 27 at 12:00 pm at the LDS Chapel, 4845 S Woodhaven Drive, Taylorsville, with a viewing at 11:00 am. Interment will be held at Memorial Redwood Cemetery.
