OBITUARY FOR ROBERT L. BUSH Self-written on December 8, 2010 updated May 26, 2021 I died today, May 25, 2021 at the age of 82, at the end of a wonderful and enjoyable life, as I loved, laughed, played, traveled, and tried to serve others. I was born on December 21, 1938, in Brigham City, Utah to James and Dolores Bush. I was the youngest of six children, raised in Ogden, Utah where I attended Polk Elementary School. I moved with my family to Southern California, where I graduated from Santa Ana High. I was blessed to serve an LDS mission in the beautiful lowlands of the Netherlands. This was the home of my paternal grandparents. I then attended BYU where I met the love of my life, Kathryn Despain. We were married in the Manti Temple on August 23, 1962. We lived in South Ogden and raised six wonderful children – Scott, Stephanie, David, Seth, Sherene, and Jennifer. I graduated from Weber State University, with a Bachelor's of Science in Business Administration. This led me to a lifelong career as an entrepreneur. I was employed for twenty plus years in the banking and real estate industry. In 1980, Kathy and I started our own business in Kaysville, The Bike Rack. Which we successfully operated for the next 25 years, through the combined efforts of our entire family. We sold the business and retired in 2005. Thus allowing us to spend 18 wonderful months in 2006-2007 as missionaries in Nairobi, Kenya. Kathy and I developed a great love of the Kenya Saints. In 2011-2012, Kathy and I shared another choice experience serving as missionaries. This time in the Netherlands, where we were privileged to devote ourselves to the Young Adults at the Deventer Young Adult Center. I have been very active in athletics throughout my life. I have competed in multiple sports throughout high school, college, married life, and even up until the day of my death. I played tennis regularly, along with softball and pickleball. I played in multiple sport events at the Huntman’s World Senior Games. I loved the exercise and challenge of recreational and competitive Mountain Biking. I am now returning home to a loving Heavenly Father, surrounded by the singing of my family, with many singing off key but I still love them and appreciate the life and love we have shared together. I am so grateful for my sweet wife, Kathy, whom I love so very much. She has always been such a precious, spiritual, loving, and caring person to all who know her. I am also grateful for each of you, our children, their spouses, our 21 grandchildren, and our 20 great grandchildren, whom I also love very much. Sorry I got a little grouchy at times, when we all got together at our home. I guess I just couldn’t handle all the noise, with screaming kids running all over jumping off furniture, with a sucker in one hand and a toy gun in the other. Yet, some of my happiest times were spent with a bowl of popcorn in hand while surrounded by Kathy, our children, and grandchildren. If you like viewings, drop by and shake my hand, otherwise please join me at the funeral. I won’t be able to speak, but there will be a few others who will probably tell you a few lies about me. I hope you will have chosen my favorite LDS hymn to sing, “There Is A Green Hill Far Away”. I have a great joke to tell you, but I guess I’m out of room, so you’ll just have to wait till we see each other again. Tot Ziens, Bob! There will be a viewing on June 1st from 12:30 - 1:30 at the church at 1080 W Arlington Street, Washington, Utah. A service will follow at 2:00 pm There will be a viewing on June 3rd from 12:30 - 1:30pm at the church at 950 E 2850 N, North Ogden, Utah.
