Robert Gary Gale
May 26, 1947 - February 1, 2022
Robert Gary Gale passed away February 1, 2022, in Ogden, Utah. He was the third of four children born to Briant and Kathryn Dallinga Gale, in Ogden on May 26, 1947. His siblings were Frank (Linda) deceased, Beverly (Reid) Burkinshaw, and Randy (Vicky). He was a wonderful father, grandpa, great-grandpa, uncle, cousin, brother, neighbor, and friend. He was raised in Sunset, Utah and graduated from Clearfield High School. He attended Weber State University and the Ogden ATC. He loved learning and was a great example to his family, establishing a love for learning. Gary and his sweetheart, Lana Roundy Gale were sealed for time and all eternity in the Manti LDS Temple on July 23, 1977. During their life together, they lived in Utah and Alaska. Together they had Daniel Ray, Robert Gary,II, and Shaun Aaron. He had two other sons from his first marriage. Gary served an honorable full-time LDS mission in the Alaska-British Columbia mission. He served in many other capacities—missionary leader, scouts, Elders quorum presidency, Sunday school teacher, and others. He worked successfully in sales for many years, and worked for the BLM in Alaska and Utah as a Cartographer/GIS Specialist. He retired after nearly 40 years of federal service. While in Alaska, he enjoyed taking the family and visiting Denali National Park. He would have the boys count the mountain goats to keep them busy. One time a wolf stepped out in the road, and while we stopped to let the wolf keep walking, it just stopped and stared at us. Another time a moose wandered into our neighborhood and decided to stay a couple of days in our back yard. The boys were In elementary school and begged us to let them “go pet” it. Playing with Hector, his Chihuahua, the guitar and chess, riding his bicycle, and reading were his favorite interests. He also loved homemade, white dinner rolls—raw or baked. His last years were a struggle—cancer, staph infection, while living with dementia. He is now at peace. He is dearly loved by his family and others and is greatly missed. A special thank you to Art, who visited him twice every week, the staff at McKay Hospital and home health care assistants. A memorial service is being held on Saturday, February 5, at the Lorin Farr LDS 4th ward at 770-15th St. at 1:00 p.m.
