December 22, 1959 - November 28, 2014
Robert Harold Taylor passed away unexpectedly playing basketball, the game he loved, of a heart attack, on Friday, 28 November 2014 at 54 years old. He is survived by his sweetheart, Kathleen who he married in the Jordan River Temple 32 years ago, his children Krystalina (Brandon), Quinton (Laura), Quichee (Breylen), eleven grandchildren and two on the way. Robert was the youngest in his family with his seven older sisters also surviving him: Margaret, Sharon (Joe), Geraldine (Fred), Renee (Fred), Connie (Kay), Ellen (McKay), Joyce (Butch), and a very large extended family, all of whom love him dearly. Honesty was very important to Robert. It is how he lived his life. Robert was an Eagle Scout at a very young age and went on his mission to Quebec, Canada for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. He loved chess; he competed in tournaments and received many trophies. He enjoyed teaching others the game, especially his grandchildren. Another love was movies. Around a campfire he could always captivate his audience with his humorous quirky stories. And, of course, basketball. He loved playing, refereeing, and watching basketball, especially the Jazz. Robert had the driest sense of humor and always pretended to not get his own jokes, which made it even funnier. It will be greatly missed. Other favorite pastimes include fishing, wrestling in high school, camping, skiing (water, snow, and jet), horse shoes, karate, and archery. Above all, his greatest loves were family, friends, and pistachios. A viewing will be held to honor him at the LDS Church located at 6710 W. 4145 S. in West Valley on Wednesday, 3 December 2014 at 6:00-8:00 PM and Thursday, 4 December 9:30-10:45 AM. Funeral services will follow on Thursday at 11:00 AM with graveside services afterward at the Redwood Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers and to assist the family, you can make a contribution to the Robert Harold Taylor Memorial Account at America First Credit Union, account number 9070749.
