Robert Earl Taylor

September 27, 1925 - February 7, 2016

Our sweet husband, dad, grandpa, son, brother, and friend, Robert Earl (Bob) Taylor, passed away at his home in American Fork surrounded by his wife and children on Sunday, February 7, at the age of 90. Bob was born in Springville, Utah to Cliff and Thelma Taylor, the oldest of 6 kids. In 1944, he married his sweetheart, Renae Johnson, and for 40 years they were devoted to each other. With love and a sense of humor they raised 7 children and enjoyed many wonderful adventures together until Renae’s death in 1985. Bob was a natural mechanic, and an amazing “backyard engineer”. There was nothing he could not repair, patch together, or build from scratch (except for the hydraulic log¬-splitter which remains in the garage today:)) At a young age he learned the auto mechanic trade and eventually owned his own business. For many years the iconic Taylor’s Chevron was a bright landmark on American Fork’s State Street. He was well-known for being an honest, hardworking, and generous man. A highlight of his life began when he became one of Jehovah’s Witnesses, joining the American Fork Congregation and spending as much time as possible in the public ministry. In 1986, Deanna Ludwig agreed to be his wife. They built a wonderful life together, taking care of one another until Bob’s death. He is survived by his wife Deanna, 2 brothers, Doug and Roger; 7 children (Susann, Aileen, Paulette, Robyn, Julie, Rachel, Wade), and 6 step-children (Jean, Wayne, Shirley, Janet, Blaine, Elaine). Altogether he had 49 grandchildren, 85 great-grandchildren, and 3 great-great-grandchildren. Bob’s family and friends meant everything to him and he will be missed very much. Memorial services will be held on Saturday, February 13, 2016 11:00 am in the Kingdom Hall at 8497 South State Road, Spanish Fork, Utah 84660.
