July 1, 1935 - March 31, 2022
Roberta Williams Marr, beloved daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, slipped away quietly on March 31, 2022 after a battle with cancer. She returns to the presence of her Heavenly Father and Savior, and is again in the arms of her dear husband of sixty years James H. Marr, (her ‘Jimmy’), whom she lost in 2020. It is impossible to describe the impact Roberta had on the lives of those in her care, which was just about everyone she encountered. Her life was defined by love: love for her Mom and Dad, for her sisters and brother, for her kids, grand-kids, great-grand-kids, and for her friends. She made everyone feel special, because to her, they were. All her grand-kids came to love her ‘chats at the kitchen table’, where Grammy would fix them a tasty snack, and then would just listen to them while she quietly taught them a lesson about unconditional love. Roberta was born and raised in Pocatello Idaho. Though quick to downplay her own talents, she was a fiercely intelligent women with a love for books and music. She loved to laugh and make others laugh. She thrived at whatever task she took her hand to outside the home, but her energies were always focused on what mattered to her the most: her family and friends. A woman of tremendous faith and member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, she taught Christ-like love through example, taking tremendous comfort during life’s struggles in her sure testimony that she was building a family that would last forever. A true patriot, Roberta loved her country and respected those who sacrificed so much to defend our freedoms, including her dear husband (and submariner) Jim. Her grand-kids will never forget marching out with her to take down the flag while vigorously singing “Grand Old Flag”. Roberta is survived by her five children - Jeff (Tracy), Jason (Lori), Julie, Jon (Kristi), and Joel (Staci), her younger brother Jack, her 12 grandchildren, her 16 great-grandchildren, her beloved extended family, and her countless friends who are family in all but name. There will be a memorial service at a later date in Malad, ID.
