Robyn Lyn (Haslam) Nielsen passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by her family on Thursday, December 16, 2021, after a ten year battle with Primary Progressive Aphasia, a form of dementia. She was 67 years old. Robyn was born in Torrance, California on December 28, 1953 to Ivan Haslam and Shirley Balls Haslam. She was the fourth of six crazy, fun, and joyful girls. She and her sisters were very close throughout life. They spent many hours together traveling, laughing, and shopping. The family moved to Bountiful, Utah where she attended Viewmont High School. She later attended Dixie State College where she danced on the drill team as a Rebelette. She met the love of her life and eternal companion, Gery Warner Nielsen, at a sock hop. They were married for time and all eternity, in the Salt Lake LDS Temple on June 27, 1975. Together they had 4 amazing children. Robyn never missed anything her kids were involved in and was their number one supporter. She loved to be active. Throughout her life she participated in many sports: softball, volleyball, soccer, and basketball. She played in softball and soccer leagues into her 40’s. She had many talents. She loved to craft, crochet and sew. She crocheted many baby blankets, burp cloths, and intricate blessing dresses for her granddaughters. She enjoyed sitting by a pool or on a beach spending time in the sun. She spent 30 years working as a crossing guard for Woods Cross City. Her love for children was unmatched for her own kids, grandkids and those she taught. She was a P.E. teacher for many years at Woods Cross Elementary and loved reconnecting with her school kids everywhere she went. They loved Ms. Robyn! Robyn had a Christ-like love for all she knew. She made many instant friends who admired and adored her for her genuine kindness. She had a bubbly, fun personality and a contagious laugh. Robyn lived a very charitable life. She lived a life of service and held many callings as a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She was preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her husband, Gery, her children: Wade Nielsen (Leilani), Rhett Nielsen (Lindsey), Tawnyel Brady (Nicholas), and Lexie (Adam) and 14 grandchildren.
