Sharon Lee Petersen

Our beautiful mother and wife Sharon Lee Hopkins Petersen (80), peacefully passed away Saturday, January 8, 2022 at home surrounded by her family. She was born in Fall River Mills, California on September 7, 1941 to Cecil and Thelma Hopkins. She has two brothers Gary and Bruce. She grew up in Lakeview, Oregon. Later attended BYU in Provo, Utah where she met her soon to be husband Rudi. Sharon and Rudi were both called to serve a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter day Saints to the Danish mission. After returning, Sharon then married her eternal companion Rudi Petersen, on May 27, 1965 in the Salt Lake, Utah Temple. They have been happily married for 56 years. Some of Sharons hobbies included bowling, swimming, reading and traveling the world with her husband. She was a devoted BYU sports fan and a member of the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers where she recently received her 45 year pin. She retired after many years of working at Kencraft as a receptionist. Sharon and Rudi happily served in the Missionary Training Center for 10 years. To Sharon, family was everything! She was actively involved in all of her family’s activities. Sharon is survived by her husband Rudi Petersen; Children Mike (Suzette) Petersen, Cheryl (Dave) Powell and Mark (Jessica) Petersen; 1 brother; 9 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her Parents, brother Gary, and great grandson Derek; She will be greatly missed. Funeral services for Sharon will be held on Saturday, January 15, at 10:00 AM at the red brick church in Alpine. 165 N 100 E, Alpine, UT 84004. A celebration of life will follow in the cultural hall.
