Shelby Kae Curtis

March 20, 1978 - March 28, 2021

This imperfect world has lost a perfect soul. On March 28, 2021, Shelby Kae Curtis returned to live with her Father in Heaven. As the popcorn popped on the apricot trees, Shelby was born on the first day of Spring, March 20, 1978 to Kay and Kae Curtis in Salt Lake City, Utah. Shelby came to this world to receive a body and for 43 years she was an example of unconditional love for all she knew. Her body was not perfect, but her spirit was. Shelby loved life, she loved music, whether it was primary songs or “Elvira” by the Oakridge Boys. Her joyful “singing” of primary songs and hymns will be forever cherished. Shelby was always happy. She loved wrestling with her brothers, swimming, cuddling on the couch with her Dad and flirting with every cut boy she met. Everyone who came in contact with Shelby was a better person for meeting her. She will always be remembered as a smiling, happy, and oftentimes excitedly=-loud, Child of God. She is survived by her parents, Kay Franklin Curtis and Suzanne Kae Curtis, siblings, Scott (Debby) Curtis, Stefanie (Quentin) Stringham, Matthew (Lisa) Curtis, Jeremy (Amy) Curtis and Emily Curtis, nieces, Kristin, Kaelee, and Cora and nephews, Kyle, Christopher, Tanner, Kooyman, William, and Peyton. Shelby is preceded in death by her grandparents, Neil and Susanne Kooyman and Kenneth and Relia Curtis and her niece, Abbi. The family would like to thank many people for their dedication, love, and gentleness in helping care for our Shelby. We want to especially thank Ben, Annabella, Sidney, Noah and Reggie of Harmony Home Health, the valuable teachers, nurses, and therapists of Jordan Valley School as well as the Life Skills Activity Center. We are thankful for the special relationships and life-long friendships she formed in the Midvalley 7th Ward where Shelby attended Primary and Young Women meetings. Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, April 7, 2021 at 11 a.m. at the LDS chapel at 586 East 8400 South in Sandy, Utah. A viewing will be held prior to the service from 10 to 11 a.m. She will be laid to rest in the Salt Lake City Cemetery. Funeral services under the direction of Premier Funeral Services.
