June 11, 1968 - November 11, 2020
Stacy Lee Rands Maltsberger passed away on November 11, 2020 with her loving husband by her side. She is a beloved wife, sister, daughter, and grandmother and will be missed. Stacy was born June 11, 1968 in Salt Lake City, Utah to LeRoy William Rands, Jr. and Lorna Robison Rands. Stacy spent her earliest childhood years as the daughter of a marine and moved across the U.S. four times and then spent a year in Iwakuni, Japan. Later the family settled in upstate New York near Niagara Falls. Here she gained her love for hiking, camping and everything outdoors. As a teenager, she was an avid reader, artistic, and loved being part of the yearbook team of which she was eventually chosen to be editor. In 1986 the family moved back to Utah and the next year Stacy graduated from Bountiful High School. A few years later Stacy served a successful mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day saints in the Fort Lauderdale, Florida mission. After her mission, she worked as a caretaker for children with special needs. Her huge heart, patience, and desire to help those in need served her well as she thrived in her work with autistic children. She began working for Wells Fargo Bank in 2001 where she held many different roles. Her friendly nature and outgoing personality endeared herself to her co-workers and she enjoyed her career until her health no longer allowed her to do so. For many years, Stacy shared a home with her sister Heather and they remained close her entire life often traveling and vacationing together. In the fall of 2007, Stacy met and fell in love Dean Patrick Maltsberger. They quickly found many mutual interests including their love for camping and exploring. Stacy had found her soulmate and they were married on June 26th, 2008. They spent many vacations going to mountain men retreats where Dean would compete in black powder shooting matches. She loved to travel and had a goal to visit all the U.S. national parks. One of Stacy’s favorite trips was an RV trip to Canada with Dean for her 50th birthday. She is survived by the love of her life, Dean, her father and her brothers and sister, David (Angie) Rands, Heather Rands, Kyle (Megan) Rands and Brian (Lexi) Rands. She also has six step grandchildren – Amelia, Jansen, Kaiden, Oliver, Paxton, and Juniper. She is preceded in death by her mother. The funeral will be held on Saturday, November 14, 2020 at 1:00 p.m. at the Layton 4th Ward Chapel, 1480 W. Phillips Street, Kaysville. You can also join the services remotely on Stacy’s face book live account. A viewing will be held one hour prior to the service. Stacy will be interred in the Syracuse, Utah town cemetery.
