Steven Richard Hansen

February 3, 1951 - March 7, 2022

Steven Richard Hansen Steven Richard Hansen passed away on March 7, 2022 after a long illness. Steven, better known as “Rick” was born on February 3rd, 1951 in Salt Lake City, Utah to Dick Hansen and Cathryn Donio Hansen (later divorced) Cathryn then married Carl McKay Skinner who immediately filled in as a loving father figure for Rick. Rick referred to his new father as “Pops”. At the age of 17, Rick enlisted in the United States Army and bravely served in the Vietnam War. Upon his return, he married Jana Lynne Elder and together they had a wonderful son Shelby. Shelby quickly became Rick’s pride and Joy. Rick was extremely proud of his Shelby, his wife, as well at their three children. He took great delight in sharing their talents and accomplishments with family and friends. He also had a daughter, Christy Fielding. Rick attended schools in Salt Lake City, Utah. He attended Jefferson Elementary, Lincoln Junior High and South High School. While growing up, Rick enjoyed spending time at the family cabin with his cousins. Rick loved to fish, but continually hated being “out fished” by his Mother. Rick also loved taking vacation trips with his son to Disneyland. Rick enjoyed many careers during his working life. He worked at the Highway House, Boise Cascade Construction, Levelor Blinds and the State of Utah. His last job was assembling bicycles at Walmart during the Christmas season. Rick will forever be remembered for his ability to make people laugh. He is proceeded in death by his Father, Dick Hansen. His second Father, Carl Skinner. His Sister, Annette Skinner Page, his cousin Roger Donio, Nephews Christopher VanDuren , Scott Sykes, and Aaron Webster, and Brother-in-law Larry Brinkerhoff. Rick is survived by his son Shelby Hansen (Amy), grandchildren Hayley, Dylan and Jax, Mother,Cathryn Skinner. Siblings, Judy Chatwin (Phillip), Pat Brinkerhoff, Melvin Hardman (Sandra), Melanie Thorpe (Kevin), Robinn Webster (Dennis), Edward Skinner (Melissa). Countless nieces, nephews and a huge extended family.
