Twila H. Plant 1930 -2019, Murray UT passed away peacefully on December 26, 2019 at her home in Murray, UT. surrounded by her family. She was born May 8th, 1930 in Salt Lake City to Erma Floyce Wolford and Melvin Humpherys. She was born in the early morning twilight hour, which is how her name was chosen. Twila was raised in SLC UT by loving parents where hard work was a way of life. There were plenty of struggles and sacrifice growing up in the depression era. It was this upbringing that would establish her values and service to others for the rest of her life. She graduated from Granite High School in 1947. During her high school years, she become acquainted with a young man named George Plant, who recently returned from WWII. Upon graduation, they were married on June 11, 1947 which was later Solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple. This was the start of her storied life. They were inseparable even into her passing. They would go on to be married for 72 years. He was the love of her life. They made their home in Murray for the last 60 years. Mom went forward to get her degree from the LDS Business College in accounting. This was the start of her long career in accounting and book keeping. She worked in many different industries into her mid-eighties before she decided to retire. Even then, she wanted to keep going because of her work ethic. However, it was during this time they would become Service Missionaries at the IMC Hospital in Murray for the next 7 years. They developed many great friendships with those they served and worked with. It was really a labor of love for them. She served in many different capacities for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. From Cub Scouts to Young Women and Relief Society to Sunday School. She was fully dedicated to each calling. Most importantly, the greatest love in her life was her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was always about supporting, helping, serving and taking care of us. She went out of her way to make our lives easier by her random acts of kindness. Her love and service were unwavering with all she did for us. Furthermore, it was not just limited to her own family but extended to friends, strangers, relatives and anyone that needed help. Her house was often a refuge for other people who needed a place to stay or a hot meal. She never turned her back on anybody. On many occasions we had people living with us for several months on end, only because she would have it no other way. Her hobbies included knitting, collecting dolls and gardening. She loved the annual ritual of planting, growing and caring for her flowers. They were found abundantly in every open space and planter box throughout the yard. Twila also loved to collect knick-knacks. Especially ceramic ducks and chickens. She will be sorely missed but always a big part of our hearts and memories. She was a beloved mother, sister, grandmother, great-grandmother, friend, caregiver and wife. The legacy she leaves will live on from generation to generation. The love and service she rendered will be a foundation we can all build upon. We Love you Mom. She is survived by Husband, George; Children: Brent (Amaida), Terry (Ann), Cory (Suzanne), Craig (Valerie), Lori Thomas (Steve).
