Val W Houtz
February 4, 1950 - December 2, 2021
Val W. Houtz passed away on December 2, 2021 at Pine Meadows Nursing Home in Salt Lake City, Utah. He was born February 4, 1950 to Earl Watson Houtz and Leah McDonald Houtz in Heber City, Utah. He graduated from Wasatch High School in 1968. Val grew up in Midway where he enjoyed many outdoor activities. Among them were fishing and hunting with his Dad and Brothers. Val loved cars, especially his Camaro and Mustang. He also loved his motorcycle so he could ride and be free. He was a friend to everyone and always loved to share the very little that he had. He especially enjoyed visiting with his friends at the coffee shop. Val suffered from Schizophrenia which brought many struggles and trials to his life. His mother Leah lovingly watched over and helped take care of him. In later years his younger brother Steve and his sister-in-law Kim were consistently there for him. They spent countless hours taking care of his needs and Kim became his most trusted friend. Steve and Kim have been there for every twist and turn of Val’s life. We as a family are eternally grateful for their unselfish care, they are our angels here on earth. Val will be missed but we know that he is free from his suffering and is among his loving family, what a joyous reunion. Val is survived by his sister, Barbara Rosengreen; his brother, Larry (Malinda); his brother Steve (Kim), and by many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents and sister Joyce Olsen. A viewing will be held on Tuesday December 7th at 10:00am followed by the funeral at 11:00am at the LDS Chapel, 240 East 400 South, Heber. The interment will be held at the Midway Cemetery.
