Waunita Gay Grimm Beck “Nita” Born: October 3, 1933, Cedar City, Utah Died: February 2, 2017, Salt Lake City, Utah Our beloved mother, grandmother, sister, friend and partner, Waunita G. Beck, passed from this life on February 2, 2017, at St. Joseph Villa in Salt Lake City, after a prolonged illness. She attended school in Cedar City, Utah, and was particularly proud to have studied at Branch Agricultural College, (now Southern Utah University). Nita was a fixture at Salt Lake’s Jade Café for 37 years, making life-long friends with co-workers and customers alike. She had a prodigious memory for detail, truly embracing the lives of others. Hers was a life of joyful service. Waunita is survived by her son, James A. Beck, brother Allen Jay (Marlene) Haslam, life partner Thomas N. Sasaki, eleven grandchildren, more than 20 great-grandchildren and several great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Wilford and Adelaide Haslam; brothers Vernon, Edward and Lloyd Grimm; daughter Adelaide Gay Knight; son William Jay Beck; granddaughter Melissa Knight; great-grandson Richard Madsen. Cremation will be by Premier Funeral Services. A Memorial Service and Celebration of Life, followed by inurnment at the Cedar City Cemetary, will be announced at a future date.
