William (Bill) Orson Park, passed away October 3, 2019, peacefully in his home, surrounded by his family. Bill was born on July 5, 1932 in Alameda, California to William Joseph and Freda Katherine Nelson Park, of Brigham City, Utah. Bill served in the Air Force from June 1951 to June 1955; serving in the Korean War. Upon release from the Air Force, he attended the University of San Francisco where he earned an Associate’s degree. After college, he moved to Brigham City and took a job with the Thiokol Corporation. This is where he met the love of his life, Darlene Walker. They fell instantly in love and married on August 31, 1963. They were sealed for time and all eternity in the Logan Temple on April 14, 1968. They moved to Alamogordo, New Mexico in July 1964. He worked for Hughes Corporation, Dynalectron, and Land Air as an electronics technician. Some of the projects that Bill worked on were “The Race for Space,” the Maverick Missile project, and Chimpanzees in Space. Bill and his family relocated to Roy, Utah, in 1982. He took a job at Thiokol Corporation at the Automotive division and then transferred out to Tremonton to the propulsion division where he retired in 1997. Bill served many callings throughout his life as a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, to include ward clerk, serving in multiple bishoprics, a High Councilman, and Quorum of the Seventy. Bill loved golf from a very early age and carried it throughout his life. He even had a memorable hole-in-one. He loved to fly fish and was a master gardener. He was famous for his tomatoes among all who knew him. Bill is preceded in death by his father, mother and his sister, Elaine Caruthers, of Scottsdale AZ. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Darlene Walker Park, his daughters: Rebecca Jo Montoya, Lorna M. Hammons (Dave), and Kathryn A. Penrod (Justin), 14 grandchildren, and 29 great-grandchildren. A graveside service will be held at the Roy City Cemetery on Oct 7th, 2019 at 1:00pm. A Celebration of Life will follow at the Roy 5th ward.
