Nathan Earl McCleery
August 2, 1972 - January 12, 2022
Nathan Earl McCleery, 49, faithful husband, father, son and brother, returned home to his Heavenly Father on January 12, 2022. Nathan was born in Charleston, South Carolina, August 2, 1972. He grew up in Midvale, Utah, and attended Hillcrest High School. Nathan served a mission in The Dominican Republic from 1991 to 1993 where he learned to love the Spanish language, culture, and people. He married Wendy Lois Klingler on August 18, 1995, in the Salt Lake City Temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Nathan graduated from Brigham Young University with a BA in the humanities and Spanish with a teaching certificate. He achieved his Masters in Spanish Language and Culture in 2013 from the University of Salamanca in Spain. He served as a teacher in various cities and school districts and helped develop the secondary Spanish Dual Immersion Program for Utah. Nathan had many gifts and talents and a passion for history, the arts, Spanish, teaching, travel, nature, hiking, motorcycling, and off-roading. He was a wonderful husband and father, a good friend and advocate. He would tackle any project with confidence and skill. He loved food and whenever he traveled to someplace new, he sought out local eateries to get a real feel for the people and the culture. Nathan is survived by his wife, Wendy, and his children, Sydney Nicole Gardner, Vincent Cole, and Nathan Asher. He was preceded in death by his parents, Neal Dewayne McCleery and Darla Jean Hutchings Funeral services will be held Friday, January 21, 2022 at the chapel located at 7511 So 2700 W, West Jordan 12:00 – 1:00 pm.
