Nelly Elizabeth Fernandez Johnston passed away Saturday, November 28th of complications associated with lung cancer. She died peacefully at home in Millcreek surrounded by her family. Nelly was born March 29, 1955, the seventh of Read Obituary
I just realized Nelly had passed a few years ago. I’m so sad to know this. We only shared a few times together here in California, we went for a nice hike with her husband and my younger son. It was such a nice day, we even had a picnic , we all brought something and shared it. I only knew her for a little bit but she made a big impression on me. So soft spoken and sweet. I will miss you my “Amiguita” . Keep smiling in Heaven. My sincere condolences to her family..
I just found out Nelly passed away and I am so sad to hear it. She and I were missionary companions in Maracaibo in 1981. We lost touch and I didn’t even know she had moved to the US! I wish I could have found her sooner and reconnected. She was a cute, smart, capable missionary. I will hopefully be able to renew our friendship when we meet in heaven. 💕

Con un corazón lleno de gratitud y melancolia puedo decir que Nelly siempre fue y sera una amiga muy especial para mi. Disfrute su bella amistad desde mi juventud. Su sonrisa natural, con una actitud positiva entusiasta y un espiritu de bondad amor y comfort elevaban siempre mi espiritu. Su fe y amor por el evangelio de Jesucristo era ejemplar. Siempre recordare con carino nuestros buenos tiempos en Peru, Utah y California.

I’m am so sorry for your loss. Nelly was such a kind, loving, and compassionate person. I remember always enjoy her dinner gatherings, and the smile it brought across her face when surrounded by friends and family. May the lord bless you at this time. Much love and thoughts.

Dear Jeff, Jeff Jr., Carla, Paul and extended family. my deepest condolences for the passing of our beloved Nelly. Nelly was one of the most amazing human beings I have had the privilege to meet. She helped me immensely when I was studying in SLC. Nelly and you became my family. I learned so much from Nelly. She was compassionate, strong, loving and always helping others. She gave me the gift of my life. Nelly introduced me to my husband, Norman. The funny thing is that a year went by before we could all get together. I had forgotten about being introduced to Nelly’s friend. However, Nelly didn’t forget about us. She kept trying to coordinate our agendas and to this day, that day may have be one of the happiest days of my life. Rest in piece, my dear friend. Thank you so much for everything.

I have been so sad about the passing of our beloved Nelly, a truly remarkable friend and an outstanding daughter of our Heavenly Father. I extend my sincerest condolences to Jeff, her children Carla, Jeff and Paul, and the rest of her friends and family. She will be missed, but she will always be remembered with love by myself, by my wife Jessica, my Father Rafael and the rest of the Brito's. For those of you who do not know, it was Nelly who introduced my now wife Jessica and I, and I will always thank her for bringing me the love of my life.
