Alba Cristina Trujillo's Obituary
Alba Cristina Trujillo, 83, of Salt Lake City, Utah, passed away on June 10th, 2025 at her home.
Born on May 10th, 1942, in Montevideo, Republica Oriental del Uruguay to Maximiliano Jose Ausserbauer and Maria de las Mercedes Pirez. She was the youngest of 3 children and her siblings were Matilde Anna and Mario Ignacio . She graduated from Liceo Aleman (German High School) in Montevideo and completed several training courses in the areas of bookkeeping, office management and translation and interpretation of the Spanish language.
A granddaughter of immigrants to Uruguay from Germany and Spain, she became herself a young immigrant of 27 years old to The United States of America in 1969. Without any family she faced with courage and determination the challenges, difficulties and opportunities that this country offers to immigrants, but she was not alone. She met many wonderful people that assisted her and protected her when she first arrived to the United States. Many of those people have become life-long friends and family to her for over 50 years. On September 17th, 1976 she became a naturalized US citizen. She has always been proud of her dual citizenship as an Uruguayan and also a US Citizen. She was instrumental and the driving force for her sister and brother-in-law, Oscar and Matilde Medina and their 4 children ( her nephews and nieces) and her mother to become legal resident aliens and also being able to emigrate from Uruguay to United States. After her mother, Maria de las Mercedes Pirez, died in 1984 in USA she engaged in the international tasks between authorities of Uruguay and United States and the cooperation of her brother Mario Ausserbauer in Uruguay to be able to have the remains of her father, Maximiliano Ausserbauer, who had died in Uruguay in 1975 exhumed and transported to The United States and re-buried in the same gravesite of her mother so that her parents would be buried together.
She developed the skills and knowledge to become a Spanish translator with The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. She translated from English to Spanish or Spanish to English many materials that Church and Spanish speaking members of the Church would use. She interpreted for many of the English and Spanish speaking Authorities of the Church. She retired as an employee of the LDS Church on June 1, 2007.
Sometime in 1979 she met the love of her life, Joe C. Trujillo. At first she was not interested in him but his persistence won and they were married a year later on May 2nd, 1980 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. They were inseparable after that. They could not have any children, but somehow their home was always blessed with the presence of the children of some of their family, friends and neighbors. Joe struggled many years with Parkinson disease and he died on December 3rd, 2007. Alba was his faithful and valiant companion throughout his illness. She was a faithful and devout member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints spending much of her time teaching the children of the Church.
Alba loved to travel and got to travel. She loved to garden and beautify her yard. As soon as the cold Utah winters would leave and spring time would allow it she would be buying flowers and start working in her yard to make it as beautiful as she could. She would always look for the good in people first and often would overlook the wrongdoings that she received from people.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Maximiliano Ausserbauer and Maria de las Mercedes Pirez, her husband, Joe C Trujillo and her sister Matilde Medina and survived by her older brother in Uruguay, Mario Ausserbauer, many nephews and nieces and grand nephews and grand nieces.
Her Memorial Services will be on Saturday June 21st, 2025 at The Rose Park Center Ward Chapel, 868 N. Starcrest Drive, SLC Utah 84116.
