Alfred Swainston Cordon's Obituary
Alfred Swainston Cordon
June 19, 1934 - July 20, 2020
Alfred Swainston Cordon, beloved father, grandfather, and great grandfather, graduated with honors from mortality and passed through the veil Monday, July 20, 2020, to join his eternal sweetheart Shirlene. Alfred loved the gospel of Jesus Christ and was a powerful missionary his entire life. He loved sharing stories of his namesake ancestor, and he relentlessly worked to find cousins and connect those cousins with their relatives. This love of relatives naturally translated to his passion for planning many family reunions over the years as president of the Cordon Family. His life’s motto was “Don’t Ever Give Up!” He shared this encouraging message with all those he met and lived his life by this motto to the very end. He took great delight in bringing light and joy to all and leaving everyone smiling.
Alfred was born June 19, 1934, in St. Anthony, Idaho, to Mabel Edith Swainston and Ralph Purl Cordon. Alfred is survived by his six children: Kenneth Wertz (Analida); Alfred Shane (Karen); Shauna Ward (Berk); Debra Winger (Tom); Derek (Amy); April Davis (Corey); 34 Grandchildren; 20 Great Grandchildren; he was preceded in death by his wife Shirlene Stastny, his parents, his nine siblings, and three infant grandsons.
