Allan Gavere's Obituary
Allan Gavere, age 82, passed away at his home in Salt Lake City, Utah, on March 26, 2026.
Allan had a rare gift for connection—he could speak with anyone and leave a lasting impression. Known for his resourcefulness and creativity, he seemed able to fix almost anything and offer insight on nearly any subject.
He found his greatest joy in the outdoors, from telemark skiing in the Wasatch Mountains to whitewater canoeing across the rivers of the West. He passed this passion on to his son and many others, encouraging a love of adventure, perseverance, conservation, and following one’s own path. He took great pride in supporting those pursuits and creating lasting memories along the way.
Allan lived and worked generously, always willing to lend a hand. His storytelling, wisdom, and presence will be deeply missed. He will be remembered as an adventurer, a teacher, and a devoted father whose influence will endure for years to come.
Allan served in the U.S. Air Force, stationed in Europe, before a 40-year career with the United States Postal Service in Utah.
He is survived by his son, Dan Gavere (Harmony Dawn); his brother, Frank Gavere (Barbara); and his nephew, Andrew Gavere. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Andrew Gavere, and his sister, Annie Zee.
There will be no service or visitation by request. In place of flowers, donations may be made to the Wasatch Mountain Club.
