Alta Belle Fonoimoana's Obituary
Alta Belle Fonoimoana, age 84, passed away in Orem, Utah, on May 18, 2026. She was born on September 4, 1941, in Roosevelt, Utah, to Louis Ray and Alta Woodward Allred. She was the youngest of 12 children, with five siblings and six half-siblings.
A short time after her birth, Alta’s family moved to Redondo Beach, California. She recalled she and her siblings hurrying to get their chores done so they could spend the rest of the day at the beach. Alta was a 1959 graduate of Redondo Union High School.
She married James Rawson in 1966, and they were later divorced. She married Alio Fonoimoana in 1989. Following Alio’s passing in 1998, Alta moved to Utah to be closer to her sons and grandchildren. Though she lived in Utah for 27 years, she remained a California girl at heart.
A lifelong member of the Church of Jesus Christ, Alta loved and relied on her Heavenly Father and lived a life of faith. She served as a stake missionary in the Torrance California North Stake, as an ordinance worker in the Mount Timpanogos Utah Temple, and completed a service mission in Member and Statistical Records.
Alta enjoyed being around people. She worked as a campus supervisor at Redondo Union High School in California, as an aide at Sharon Elementary in Utah, and in the copy center at Lehi Junior High School in Utah. Following her retirement, she volunteered in the Utah County Senior Companion Program.
Alta is survived by her two sons, Ray (Carol) and Steven (Grace); five grandsons: Tyler, David, Adam, Blake, and Owen; four granddaughters: Kayla, Ava, Isabelle Alta, and Stella; and three great-grandchildren: Rose, Ally, and Luke. She is also survived by two siblings, Allen Allred and Lavee Valencia.
A celebration of Alta’s life will be held on Monday, June 8, (time TBD) in the Hillcrest Ward building, 1120 North 150 West, American Fork, Utah. Alta will be laid to rest in the American Fork Cemetery.
