Alynne Gail Strait was born 28 June 1939 to Russell Davis Strait and Sarah Leona “Saronalee” Shimp in Oregon. Gail lived in Albany, Oregon. She said her grandmother raised her. Her grandmother on her father’s side was Alma Marie Manthey. She was born in 1887 in Germany. Her grandmother on her mother’s side was Rebecca Jane Baker. She was born in Iowa but lived in Canada for several years but moved back to Portland, Oregon sometime after 1928 when her husband died. Gail’s brother, Russell Davis Strait, Jr. was born in 1946. At some point her father and mother divorced. Her father married Virginia Annette Nelson Dannals in 1967. She had been married twice before. She had a daughter Judy with Wilbur Henderson. She had daughter Linda and son Jim with Frank Sloan Dannals. Gail's mother married Leland William Wells and passed away in 1988. Gail was married to Edward Dirrett and lived in Salem, Oregon. She was divorced in 1976. She moved to Hawaii in the 1990s and was there for several years. She was a nurse for 35 years – reaching the level of surgical nurse for eye patients. At some point she moved back to Oregon and met her friend Lynda Boone. They moved to Utah and lived in Santaquin where they lived on Main St. and raised birds, dogs and many cats. Gail worked at the Provo Temple in the laundry faithfully for several years. She loved music and had sung with a community choir. She was the music director for her ward in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Lynda died on 30 November 2012. After her death Gail moved to Goshen where she bought a house. She was very busy taking care of her place, her animals and working at the temple. She became ill and died on October 27, 2017. Her siblings are: Russell Davis Strait, Jr (Nina) Lahmansville, West Virginia; Judy Bender Tangent OR; Linda Long, Olympia WA; James Dannals, Ocean Park, WA and Gerri Lee Schwab, Portland, OR. Gail was interred at the Goshen Cemetery.
