Anne Provstgard Cluff's Obituary
Anne Provstgard Cluff, of Bountiful, Utah, passed away at the age of 88 on March 27, 2025, with her beloved twin daughters at her side. She was born in Salt Lake City on May 3, 1936 to George Provstgard and Doris Lewis. Throughout her life, she loved telling stories of growing up in Rose Park with her two sisters, Joyce and Donna, and her brother, Lewis.
Anne was a lover of life, and she lived it to the fullest: hiking in the Wasatch mountains, traveling the world, reading her beloved Greek literature and poetry, savoring good food, and spending quality time with her family and numerous friends.
Anne was a life-long learner. She received two degrees in education: a bachelor's degree from the University of Utah, and a master's degree from the University of California, Berkeley. She taught special education in public elementary schools for more than two decades, and after retiring, she continued to take a wide variety of classes.
Anne loved nature; she often talked about how the mountains called to her, whether to go skiing or hiking or just for a nice drive. She also loved to travel, and she visited many places around the globe, from Machu Pichu to the Swiss Alps.
Anne filled her life with art and culture. She took her daughters to countless museums and plays, to the symphony and the ballet, and, every summer, to the Utah Shakespearean Festival. She was an avid reader, and she passed her love of reading on to her daughters. She filled her house with classical music and opera, and she loved listening to her daughters playing the piano and to her grandchildren playing the violin and singing "I Often Go Walking" to her on Mother's Day.
Anne also filled her life with friends and family. She had a close-knit group of childhood friends that she treasured throughout her life, and she continued to make friends wherever she went. She enjoyed getting together with her siblings and their families; her daughters have wonderful memories of the many family gatherings, trips, and adventures with aunts, uncles, and cousins.
At the end of her life, when Anne was less able to get outside, she enjoyed the beautiful view from her home. She appreciated every sunrise and sunset, the birds at her bird feeders, and the hawks flying high in the sky. She was grateful for the many phone calls and visits she received every day from her friends, neighbors, and family.
Anne lived a remarkable and inspiring life, and she will be greatly missed by all those whose lives she touched. She is survived by her sister, Donna, her two daughters, Tanya (Thomas) and Sasha (Mike), and her five precious grandchildren, Tessa, Antonio, Will, Andrew, and Sophie.
Anne’s funeral services will be held on Saturday, April 19th, 2025, at 1:00 pm at the Mueller Park Stake Center (1800 East Mueller Park Road, Bountiful, Utah). In lieu of a viewing, an open house for Anne’s friends and family will be held after the funeral. Special thanks to all of Anne’s friends and family who made her life so rich and joyful.
