Anne Cameron Eastman Sproat's Obituary
Anne “graduated with honors” from this mortal life on January 12, 2013, 7 months after a stroke, at 64 years old. She was born in Houston, Texas, to Bert Galloway and Roberta Irene (Knirr) Eastman. She grew up in Houston, where her family was baptized into the LDS Church, and Austin, where she attended the University of Texas and met her husband, R. Terry Sproat. They were married in Austin and soon after sealed in the St. George, Utah, temple. Terry’s work took them to California (2 children born), Washington state (1 child), Nevada (1 child), Kwajalein in the Marshall Islands (last child born in Hawaii), New Jersey, and Utah. “Kwaj” was a defining experience for the whole family, as it afforded unique blessings and challenges, as well as many lasting friendships.
Anne was an avid reader, self-taught in many subjects and passionate about autism, helping mothers breastfeed and many other social issues. Her intellect was vast and infallible. She had many friends.
She is survived by her husband; her children, Sally (Michael) Bishop, Jeremy (Barbara), Emily, Ethan (Liberty) and Noah; her sister Ellen (Jeff) Williams; and 6 grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents.
A memorial will be held on Friday, January 18, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at the Aspen 10th Ward building, 1546 North 1100 West, Orem, Utah.
