Annette Phyllis Hawker Spackman's Obituary
Annette Phyllis Hawker Spackman, 82 years of age, passed on Tuesday June 20, 2023, in her home in Orem Utah.
Annette was born on December 1, 1940, in Chicago Illinois, to the late James and Phyllis Hawker. She was the youngest of three children, two preceding her in death. Annette spent her childhood in Provo Utah, and later raised her own children in San Jose California, and spent her last 30 years residing in Orem Utah.
Annette married the late David Spackman in 1970 and together they raised 5 children, Dayna, Jamie, Brandon, Mike and Derek. Annette is the mother of three additional children that died shortly after being born, Andrew James, Marcy and Robert David, and is the grandmother of 11 and great-grand mother of 8.
Annette was devoted to creating not only a beautiful family, but also creating beautiful things. She gave her creations as gifts to loved ones and those in need. Her many creations included fine oil paintings, clothing made with her sewing machine, quilts, knitted blankets, sweaters, photographs, sketches and much more. She loved to learn and read, and constantly added books to her home library.
Annette expressed love by gift giving. She loved the holidays and particularly Christmas, where she always found ways to give gifts to every family member and many others in need. She was known for her self-deprecating annual Christmas letters, her holiday cookies and her impressive appetite for sugar.
Annette was a devoted member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, and served in many callings throughout her life. She loved and regularly attended the temple. She was committed to and lived by the teachings of Jesus Christ.
Annette leaves her surviving children, grand children, great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends who will cherish her loving memory.
Funeral Service will be held Saturday, June 24, 2023 at 10:00 am at 114 South 400 West, Orem Utah. Interment to follow at the Orem City Cemetery
