Annette Mary Sticht's Obituary
Our beloved sister, aunt, and friend, Annette Mary Sticht, passed away peacefully on June 17, 2023. Annette was born on April 20, 1968 in Missoula, Montana to Maynard Sticht and Anna B. Cahoon. She was named Annette meaning: “Little Ann” after her mother. She is the youngest of 4 children and was always cherished as the Baby Sister.
Annette was born with Cerebral Palsy and severe mental challenges. As an infant, she spent a lot of time in the hospital and her parents were warned that she likely would not live to be more than a few months old. Her loving parents did all they could for their sweet girl, including making many trips to Primary Children’s hospital in Salt Lake City. Because of their devotion and care, Annette lived to be 55-yrs old. And what a wonderful 55-yrs it was!
Annette loved life and cherished her relationships. She particularly enjoyed going to the zoo, playing outside with her nieces and nephews, riding in daddy’s boat, trips to the waterpark, horseback riding, and participating in the Special Olympics program. She loved Christmas and special visits from Santa. She always had a baby-doll in her arms, “Baby Sherry”, named after her baby cousin. Annette was a mother at heart and took joy in caring for her Sherry dolls and stuffed animals, “cleaning” and picking up the house, caring for pets (real or imaginary), and tucking her loved ones in bed.
Annette attended special education programs at Lowell Elementary and Sentinel High School. She attended both day-programs and residential programs over the years including holding a part-time job stacking wood in boxes at Opportunity Resources, the Big Sky program, Tulip group home in Missoula, and Danville Services programs in Heber City. For the last several years, she lived in the Danville “Ladies Home” and grew to love the staff and residents as family.
Annette grew up as a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. She loved hymns and primary songs, as well as snuggling up on the couch to listen to General Conference with mom. She has taught everyone around her to be more Christ-like and has truly been a blessing in our lives.
Annette always had a sparkle in her eye. She was spunky, stubborn, did not take “no” for an answer, and loved deeply. She will be missed by many. She is survived by her siblings: Martin (Jeanine) Sticht; Claudine (Kory) Meyerink; & Terry Yvonne Hoopes. As well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, and her dear housemates: Beth Ann, Marie, and Annie. She is preceded in death by her parents and grandparents. We know there was a joyous reunion and are comforted to know Annette is with her loving parents once again.
A viewing and visitation will be held on Friday, June 23rd, 2023 from 3:00 – 6:00 pm at the Heber LDS 1st Ward, 325 E. 500 N. Heber, UT; Graveside Services will be held in Montana on Saturday, June 24th, 2023 at 1:30 pm, at the Missoula City Cemetery on 2000 Cemetery Road, Missoula, MT.
