Anthony "Tony" Linton Gee's Obituary
Tony Gee passed away peacefully at his home on Tuesday, 28 May 2024, surrounded by loving family. He had gone through a brief struggle with cancer, but was largely without pain near the end.
He was born in Pocatello, Idaho on 18 October 1940, the second child of William Marion Gee and Helen Young Gee.
Tony was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and had a strong and enduring testimony of the gospel and his Savior. Over the years he served in many capacities in the church, with genealogy and temple work being among his true joys in life.
Throughout his life Tony was a hard worker, and he started very early in developing business endeavors, even owning his first automobile in rural Idaho at the age of 15! His entrepreneurial creativity is the stuff of family legend, and he could always be counted on to find new and intriguing business ideas.
Tony enlisted in the National Guard in December 1960 during the Vietnam conflict, and was trained in Medical Evacuation in San Antonio, Texas. After basic training he continued to serve in a Reserve capacity for several years. For more than a year he studied at Idaho State University, but family obligations interfered, and he soon moved into the workforce. He became a master electrician and licensed contractor, in addition to many other business endeavors.
In 1963 he married his loving first wife, Carolyn Viehweg, in the Logan, Utah Temple. She passed away from cancer at the age of 42. In late 1988 a good mutual friend introduced him to a beautiful widow by the name of JenaVee Smith Crookston. For a short time they faced some daunting feelings as they considered uniting their large families, with six children each, but love won out and they enjoyed 35 wonderful years together.
Tony is deeply loved and will be truly missed until the veil of mortality is parted and all who love him eventually join him again. All look forward to the sure and certain promise of a resurrection and joining in eternal family ties following this earthly sojourn.
Tony was preceded in death by his parents William and Helen, his brother Bill, his first wife Carolyn, and his son Clay (Tina). He is survived by his wife JenaVee, and 11 children: With Carolyn he was the father of Tanra, David, Daniel, Cami (Ben), and Aaron. Through JenaVee he became a father to Michael (Judy), Stephen (Karolyn), Richard (Luna), Melanie (Bob), Stephanie (Jay), and Kenneth (Iva). Together, JenaVee and he have 33 wonderful grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
