I know a man who stood tall. His eyes and smile could say it all.
I didn’t know him all that long. I knew his character was strong.
He kept his word and earned respect. In all our lives, he had effect.
I guess the things we do not know. We can’t believe, they didn’t show.
The why, the how, the if only. Were you in pain? Were you lonely?
I don’t know why you chose to go. I fear that I may never know.
You will be missed; there will be pain. The memories, they will remain.
Although we were not ready to, we say goodbye but won’t forget you.
