Antoni Jon Allred's Obituary
Antoni Jon Allred, Taylorsville, Utah, age 68, passed away unexpectedly on March 28th, 2023 leaving many friends and loved ones behind. Jon was born in Provo, Utah, on December 27th, 1954, to Byron and Dolores Allred. Jon had a most interesting and eventful life and was truly “one of a kind”. Jon was raised in many places around the world while his father served in the U.S. Air Force. His unique childhood and adolescence created in him a life-long intense love of conversation, places, peoples, food, history and travel. Additionally, these experiences also created a powerful longing for deep rooted connections that were, sadly, sometimes too few and far between for him. Ironically, Jon could and would talk to anybody about anything and was an exceptionally gentle and sensitive human being. We profoundly mourn his passing.
Jon was heavily influenced in his life by his LDS faith, loving parents and four brothers, and his grandparents; especially his grandfather Elwood Allred. Jon’s ancestral home – the only place he ever felt was truly his home – is Burley, Idaho, where his heart was anchored no matter where he ventured. Jon served a church mission to Venezuela and his weekly letters home were a special treat for his family and inspired his younger brothers to serve missions too. He earned two degrees from BYU, including graduating Magna Cum Laude, MPA, and worked for local government, state government and non-profit entities, taught courses at SLCC and also worked in the tech industry in various capacities. Among Jon’s many talents were, teaching others, working with words and ideas, being a pilot and knowing a lot about everything. Jon was an astonishingly deep thinker.
Predeceasing Jon are his grandparents, parents, and his aunts and uncles except Richard Allred, Logan, Utah. He is survived by six children, Daniel, Jessica, Byron, Emily, Esther and Taylor, his grandchildren, and his four brothers, Mark, (Kelli) Eric, (Sandy) Paul (Ann) and Phil (Jennifer). Jon wanted no fussing made about his passing and requested no funeral or memorial service, instead desiring to be cremated knowing his family would place his remains in his favorite of all places including the top of Mount Harrison among the Castilleja christii. The family expresses thanks to all who attended to Jon after his passing with special thanks to Premier Funeral Services in Midvale.
