Arna Kae Barney's Obituary
Arna Kae Barney, born February 25, 1954, departed from this world on Friday, May 3, 2024, in the comfort of her home. She was preceded in death by her parents, Arnold and Beth Barney, her brothers Lawrence and Merrill Barney, and her son, Cristopher Barney. Arna is survived by her three sisters, Jeanne Christensen, Bonnie Metcalf, and Dianne Kreth.
Arna traveled to Columbia to adopt Cristopher. She loved being his mother. He was not only her son, but also her greatest love and focus in this life. She cherished every moment spent with him.
Arna's life was a testament to love, compassion, and service. She earned an associate degree of nursing from Brigham Young University and dedicated herself to a career in nursing, where she found fulfillment in aiding the healing process for countless individuals. Her compassionate nature extended beyond the professional realm as she generously volunteered her time and resources to various humanitarian causes, including women's shelters and homeless shelters.
As a devoted member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, Arna exemplified the principles of her faith through her selfless acts of service and unwavering commitment to helping those in need. Her love for animals, particularly puppies and her own cherished dogs, brought joy and warmth to her life and the lives of those around her.
Arna's passion for literature, her love for the ocean, and her adventurous spirit enriched her life with countless experiences and memories. She cherished the time spent exploring the Oregon coast with dear friends and found solace in the beauty of the natural world.
Above all, Arna will be remembered for the love and kindness she shared with all who knew her. As a beloved daughter, sister, mother, aunt and friend, her legacy of love and service will continue to inspire and uplift those whose lives she touched.
The family expresses gratitude to all who loved and served Arna, especially in her final days. Though she may have departed from this world, her spirit will live on in the hearts of all who were blessed to know her.
