Arnold Raymond Madsen's Obituary
Arnold Raymond Madsen passed away peacefully from natural causes on October 21, 2022 surrounded by his family at age 79.
Arnold was born on April 4, 1943 in Bakersfield CA but lived most of his life in the Salt Lake and Davis County areas. He was raised by his father Arnold and his loving mother Lillie. He married Veona Mills on October 10, 1970. Together they raised their 3 children.
Arnold worked for Davis County School District for 30 years with the longest time being spent at Orchard Elementary. After he retired from the school district, he worked part-time for Manheim transporting cars for the Utah Auto Auction. He also spent almost 10 years serving as an Ordinance worker at the Bountiful Temple.
Everywhere Arnold went he either ran into ‘old’ friends or he made new friends. He treasured his friendships with many of them lasting for decades. He truly cared for everyone he met. He was known as the ‘Candyman’ as he loved sharing treats with his friends and others that he met at the various places he worked, at church and at the temple.
In his younger years he really enjoyed going fishing and hunting and his several fishing trips to Alaska. He was very proud of the fact he caught a halibut on one of his trips that was as big as he was tall. He enjoyed growing a garden and sharing the ‘fruits of his labor’ with his friends and family. He also enjoyed going out on rides either in his truck or on his ATV. Arnold got into reading, word searches, and puzzles during his recovery from several surgeries.
Arnold is survived by his wife Veona Madsen, children Ray (Laura) Madsen, Sue Madsen, Karla Ure. His grandchildren Brayden Madsen, Taegen Ure, Camden Ure, Anna Madsen, and Kevin Madsen. His siblings Howard (Connie) Madsen and Terri Madsen. Arnold was proceeded in death by his father Arnold Madsen, mother Lillie Madsen, siblings Arlene Hansen, Judy Giles, Karen Adkins and Linda Madsen and his son-in-law Thomas Ure.
There will be a viewing on Thursday October 27th from 6-8 pm at the Farmington 19th Ward building (825 South 50 East Farmington UT 84025). Graveside services will be held at 11 am Friday October 28th at the Bountiful City Cemetery (2224 South 200 West Bountiful UT 84010).
